Michael Reinhart

MICHAEL REINHART is a graduate with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in
acting from the Theatre Program at Ryerson University (2003). To date he
has written three plays, Leaving Song (2004), Fractions (2003) and
The Next Best Thing (2002). Fractions and The Next Best Thing
have both been produced in the Fringe of Toronto Theatre Festival (2003
and 2002 respectively). The Next Best Thing was also produced in
Niagara in 2004. Leaving Song was produced at The Theatre Center in
2005. As a director, Reinhart has worked on his own material, Leaving
Song, Fractions
and The Next Best Thing, as well as that of other
modern playwrights such as Don Delillo’s Valparaiso (Ryerson Theatre
School 2003). Select acting credits include Vladimir – Waiting for
Godot
(Samuel Beckett), The Priest, The Painter and The Patient – Mad
Forrest
(Caryl Churchill), Vladimir – The Next Best Thing (Reinhart
2002 & 2004), Mike – Fractions (Reinhart). In 2003, Reinhart
premiered Fractions as the first work developed by not in london
Productions, a company he formed that year. Also in 2003, Reinhart
received the George S. Luscombe Award from the Ryerson faculty to help
support the development of his work and his company, Leaving Song was
a runner-up for the prestigious 2005 Herman Voaden Playwriting Award. He
most recently received the Jack McAllister Award from Ryerson University
in 2006. Reinhart has taught playwriting and acting as a guest artist at
Earl Haig Secondary School in North York, as well as at the New World
Academy.
